Week 3: The Day After Shot Night ...

I was pretty well dragging in the morning. I thought it had something to do with not sleeping well Sunday night on top of not getting enough sleep on Saturday night. However, later in the day I started getting the flu-like symptoms ... achy, run-down, etc.

I cranked the heat up to 72, bundled up in a chair, watched a movie and pretty well vegged out. When the movie was over around 3, I went upstairs, took an Equate PM (generic Tylenol) and crawled into bed with the heating blanket on. I slept for about an hour and felt a little better when I got up.

I would still have to say I am being blessed with no serious side-effects, thus far; in fact, that was the first time I had to drop into bed in the afternoon. I do have an injection-site reaction from last week's shot, but I think it was the Band-Aid! You can see the outline of the Band-Aid and red splotchy area from there.

Before I was hit with the "flu," I went to Dr. Scott's office and picked up my blood work. He and Nurse Roxanne were kind enough to each chat with me about the results. My enzymes are hovering in the same spot and the white blood cells show I am fighting a virus. (Duh.) Dr. Scott said the blood work essentially shows what is expected at this stage. It's really too early to tell anything else. He did say with the white blood cells showing a varient of "highs" and "lows" on the reference scale, I need to stay away from people who are snotting and snorting from colds, flu, etc. "Wash your hands a lot," he advised. I noted I already was -- so much so that I've been having to use lotion!

All in all, I continue to give credit for no serious side-effects to God's answering prayers.

On another note, I recently received a post from Ron Metcalfe, a fellow sojourner in the world of HCV. He, too, is blogging. I spent some time moving through his blog to Week 3 and have decided to chronologically follow his as I progress through my own treatment. If you are considering treatment, I encourage you to jump over to My 'Hepatitis C' Weblog. Ron's is the first such Weblog I have run across, though I am certain there are many others out there. Thanks, Ron, for sharing!

I had planned on going to my Lectionary group meeting this morning if I felt well enough, but had decided that since I did not sleep well last night I would pretty much take it easy today. Given the episode this afternoon, I'm glad I didn't. It's going to be tough enough when I return to the work-a-night world next week. I'll jump back into my routine then.

Grace and peace ...
