An Introduction
Back in 1965 when we started production of almost ready to fly model airplane kits the term ARF referred to any kit featuring an assembled fuselage and balsa sheeted foam core wing and stab. Basically the idea was to make a superior quality kit where all the laborious work was done in our factory and the shavings and balsa dust lay on our work benches.
Over the years other manufacturers have increased the extent of pre-finishing to the point where ARF models are now truly almost ready to fly with totally finished components covered in heat shrink film and ready for a very simple assembly procedure.
TMP kits now fall into the almost ready to cover (ARC) category using the same format as the kits we made when we started. Quality and Performance are still paramount and only the extent of the finishing varies according to the price point we have chosen for any particular model.
The growing Viper family of competition aerobatic models features kits which have extensive finishing. These kits have wings and stab are sheeted with balsa, attached to the foam core with expanding polyurethane glue and fine sanded ready for covering. The control surfaces are finished and ready for hinges. The balsa and ply fuselages are assembled in jigs to ensure accuracy. Some of our scale models, like the Sukhoi and Beaver kits, feature lightweight epoxy glass fuselages with a white gelcote finish and double wall construction in flat areas to increase rigidity. With the exception of the Flying Lawnmower and Witch all our models have lightweight balsa sheeted wings and tail feathers.
I hope you will find something of interest in my catalog and look forward to hearing from you soon.
